Dr. Nicole Vane enjoys giving back and donating her time to do volunteerism dentistry. Each year she travels to a clinic in Abrejos, Mexico to do 4 days of free dentistry and dental surgery. The town is so rural it is only accessible via small private planes, and pilots who donate their time to fly the doctors there. The entire area in rural Baja is in such need of dental care that some patients even rode in on horses for 10 hours when they heard that dental care would be provided for free. Patients and entire families would sit outside of the clinic for 5+ hours waiting to be seen. In addition to emergent care, Dr. Vane strives to educate the patients about their dental health and oral hygiene as well. For Dr. Vane, the long 12 hour days and exhausting work is far outweighed by the personal satisfaction that comes from helping others.
